The most important thing you can do to help
send peacekeepers to Darfur is to follow the
Darfur Pledge:
(1) Contact
the President every day;
(2) Get at least one friend to take the
pledge; and
(3)
Register your pledge.
If you want to do more, here are some
other ways to make a difference:
Become a
Darfur Pledge State Coordinator!
Become the lead organizer for the Darfur
Pledge in your state.
Get more people to take the Darfur Pledge!
Forward information about the pledge
to everyone in your email address book. Talk to friends and family
members about why it's so important for them to take the pledge.
Post information about the pledge campaign on online bulletin boards that you visit, on your personal website, and on your blog.
When you contact the President, also contact
others who can influence the situation in Darfur.
If you're contacting the President by email, you
can "cc" United
Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
(inquiries@un.org).
Call on Congress to investigate links between
Sudan's intelligence in the war on terror and the lack of any meaningful
action to stop the genocide. Submit
comments via webform to Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair
Joseph Biden or call and leave a
message for the House Foreign Affairs Committee and its Chair Tom Lantos
at (202) 225-5021. Representative Lantos has pledged to hold
hearings on Darfur, so encourage him to reveal the links between
Sudanese intelligence and the Bush Administration's inaction to protect
the people of Darfur.
Download Darfur Pledge PSAs!
Click here to download our PSAs
encouraging people to take The ETHIC's Darfur Pledge. Just burn the
PSAs onto a CD and bring them to your local radio stations. Ask the
stations to run the PSAs to help end the genocide.
Let us
know if they agree.
Ask to talk about the campaign to your
congregation, your class, your book club, or other gatherings -- or set
up a table at a local farmer's market, concert or festival.
You can bring
handouts of the Darfur Pledge for
people to take with them. Just print out copies of
this sheet
and cut into three handouts. You can also pass around
our Darfur
Pledge petition and give away
stickers.
If you know of any large gatherings or
conferences coming up soon, schedule The ETHIC's President John Morlino
to speak about the campaign. Send us
an
email or call 1-866-THE-ETHIC (843-3844) toll free.
Post fliers about the Darfur Pledge Campaign
around your college campus, in community book stores and coffee houses,
and other places where people will notice.
Click
here to download a flier.
Write letters to the editor of your local
newspapers about the campaign. Send a
letter whenever your local paper publishes an article about Darfur.
Make a contribution to support The
ETHIC's Darfur Pledge campaign and our work promoting peace and
compassion around the world.
